Among the popular foods of Bangladesh, Bhapa Pitha has gained a special place and popularity. It is a favorite winter food. In every region of rural Bengal, the mood of pitha begins with the arrival of winter. This pitha, filled with the aroma of soft sweetness and coconut, is as fun to eat as it is easy to make. Bhapa Pitha is usually made with rice powder, date molasses and coconut. The rice is soaked in water and ground into a powder. Then, light water is mixed with the rice powder and mixed for a while, and after the lumps are cooked, it is filtered. Then, date molasses and coconut pulp are mixed with them and mixed in hot water with the help of a cloth or strainer. It is basically cooked with the help of steam or vapor, hence the name Bhapa Pitha.Sometimes date molasses is used instead of it, but date molasses is delicious and has an incomparable taste. One of the features of bhapa pitha is that it is cooked in steam rather than oil, which is why it is a healthy and light snack. Especially the elderly and children can eat it. City people can now also taste bhapa pitha at various street shops and at home. The joy of eating hot bhapa pitha on a winter evening is different. Bhapa pitha is an excellent ingredient in fair pitha festivals and guest receptions in rural Bengal. Sometimes date juice is served with pitha, which doubles the taste. Currently, the demand for bhapa pitha has increased so much that some women entrepreneurs have now started making a living by selling bhapa pitha. It is easily available on various online platforms. In short, bhapa pitha is not just a food, it is part of Bengali tradition and culture. Winter is incomplete without bhapa pitha. So I tried to taste Bhapa Pitha during this rainy season. I shared a short video of Bhapa Pitha preparation with you all. May everyone be well and healthy. Thank you.
