El tiempo pasa tan rápido que a veces no nos damos cuenta… hasta que nos cae como un balde de agua fría ver que tus hijos o tus sobrinos han crecido.
En mi caso, mi sobrina acaba de graduarse y fue promovida a secundaria. Y honestamente, no tengo idea de en qué momento pasó. Hace nada le hacía tortas de cumpleaños con temática de Minnie Mouse, y ahora es una preadolescente de 12 años entrando a primer año. ¡Una locura total!
Hace un par de días fuimos a su acto de promoción. Estuvo precioso, y me emocionó ver lo querida que es por sus compañeros. Cuando dijeron su nombre, la sala se llenó de aplausos y pitidos.
Después fuimos a celebrar comiendo barquillas deliciosas. Necesito volver solo para hacerles una reseña como se merecen.
Espero poder acompañarla en esta nueva etapa de su vida. Que sí, a veces como adultos la subestimamos, pero en realidad es un momento decisivo: cambios por dentro, por fuera, en su entorno, en su forma de ver el mundo. Y tener cerca a alguien en quien confíe, alguien que esté disponible incluso para las dudas más “tontas”, puede hacer toda la diferencia.
Quiero ser para ella lo que yo hubiera querido tener a su edad: un adulto que realmente escuche, sin juzgar ni regañar a la primera. Alguien que eduque con empatía, no con gritos. Alguien que esté ahí, simplemente.

Time goes by so fast that sometimes we don’t even notice... until it hits us like a bucket of cold water to realize your kids or nieces and nephews have grown up.
In my case, my niece just graduated and moved up to middle school. And honestly, I have no idea when that happened. Not long ago, I was baking her Minnie Mouse-themed birthday cakes, and now she’s a 12-year-old preteen starting her first year. Total madness!
A couple of days ago, we went to her promotion ceremony. It was beautiful, and it warmed my heart to see how loved she is by her classmates. When they called her name, the room filled with applause and cheers.
Afterwards, we celebrated with some delicious ice cream cones. I need to go back just to give them the proper review they deserve.
I hope to be part of this new stage in her life. Because yeah, sometimes as adults we underestimate it, but the truth is, it’s a defining moment—so many changes in their lives, minds, and bodies. Having someone they trust nearby, someone who’s there even for the “silliest” doubts, can make all the difference.
I want to be for her what I wish I had at that age: an adult who truly listens, without judging or scolding right away. Someone who teaches with empathy, not with shouting. Someone who’s just… there.

Suele pasar mucho, yo todavía recuerdo cuando estaba buscando cupo de primer grado para Abraham y cuando me tocó dejar a Fabri con 8 meses en la guardería, y ya el año que viene se gradúan de secundaria y primaria respectivamente. Muchas felicidades para tu sobrina.
