A day of odorous embarrassment

The week had just ended with the promise of sunshine. On a Saturday morning,I washed a load of work clothes, hanging them on the line in our tiny backyard,with so much hope of sunshine saying to myself that at least by afternoon the clothes will dry. But it was already Saturday afternoon still I didn't see any sun instead everywhere became so cloudy before I could knew see heavy and drumming downpour,my clothes had not even thought about drying a bit, this rain wasn't just a shower it was as if the clouds had a birthday celebration that very day. 😄 Sunday morning the rain still continued,I didn't even know what to do again at that point because I literally washed all my work clothes not even one has dried up, I became so frustrated and left with no options than to bring in the wet clothes into the house draping them over chairs, table,doors like even by bed wasn't left out on this one,did all this and was praying for a miracle that never happened,by Monday morning out of desperation,I had no choice with a sigh of resignation and a prayer to the gods for a miracle,I pulled on a pair of black trousers and a blouse,both not dry, heavy and so uncomfortable, obviously you should know how damping it should be but I told myself it was just a little dampness,that it could air out on my walk to the office, no way I could enter keke or even a cab with that predicament,I had to walk it down to my office honourable. As I settled into my chair at work,an undeniable,aroma from my damp clothes began to circulate around the office,ohhh my God ,at that point it was as if the ground should just open for me to enter,i tried to sniff my collar then my sleeve confirming that the odor is coming from my clothes,every slight of my movement released another wave of the embarrassing odor. My colleagues were so kind enough,they didn't actually say anything directly. But I noticed the subtle shifts in posture,the turning of heads that follow my movements,I prayed for an urgent appointment that make me leave the office and my predicament.Atlast it was finally 5pm closing time I practically escaped out of the office, vowing to invest in a dryer,a generator if possible.The shame that came with that damp clothes and the odor was a lesson learned the hard and very public way😅.
