Since Splinterlands introduced the #Free2Play mode (in a somewhat unusual way, since you still need to pay the $10 to start playing), Iāve been trying to climb out of BRONZE in this new format. I must confess itās quite difficult due to the lack of strategic diversity.
I explained this in my previous post: Foundation Mode š² Free2Play Mode a Little Lacking in Splinterlands
Ironically, this is the same theme for the community challenge...
My favorite tactic to win in Frontier Ranked mode is to focus on the Death element. Thanks to the summoner THALGRIMORE, who grants the advantage of reducing the maximum health of all enemy creatures by -1. In other words, itās like I can focus on more fragile creatures in terms of attack, since their max health decreases.

I personally love adding this benefit and increasing it.
But how exactly?
I add to this set the creature SORROW HARVESTER, which also has the main attribute of reducing the max health of creatures by -1, as long as it remains on the battlefield. (If it is eliminated, this DEBUFF is removed.) I believe this makes all the opponentās non-tank creatures quite fragile. This was the way I found to work around the lack of high attack cards.

My approach is simple but effective.
The other creatures vary according to my needs and the rules of the current battle. Basically, I use whatever I can to increase my advantages. Of course, there are rules that can completely trash this strategy, such as the rule that increases the max health of all creatures according to the highest value. In that case, why would I want to reduce the health of a creature with 10 health points?
Yes, that can happen...
Also, I canāt forget one of the best tanks available in this collection, called NIMGUARD CAPTAIN. Besides having great base stats for the cost of 7 mana, he holds 3 armor, 5 max health, and 3 speed, with a melee attack of 1 point. His main advantage comes from the Void ability, which reduces the enemyās magic attack. Since this collection doesnāt have much magical offensive power, he can ignore almost 80% of magical attackers.
Thatās amazing, isnāt it?

Following this strategy, I have turned my constant losing streak into a winning streak. It had been a long time since I could share that I maintained consecutive wins I believe this is the first time I have this in FRONTIER. Not that Iām a good player in Modern, but I used to pull off some things, haha.
Below are some match compilations:

In Frontier mode, since only Foundation cards are allowed, the game becomes more accessible for those who donāt want to invest much money. This levels the competitive field, valuing tactical knowledge and strategic deck building. The Death element, with its versatile and low-cost cards, fits perfectly into this profile, allowing exciting and strategic battles.
Although I have tried all other elements, it seems Death is the most balanced. (Of course, I donāt have all the cards from the collection yet.) Possibly, judging by the Battle Leaderboard, I might be mistaken and Earth seems more sustainable.
You obtain most of the high rarity Death cards through the Campaign mode, so I believe this is the way to go. They promised to add new creatures to the collection in Chapter 2 of the Campaign mode. Iām eager for that; maybe they will focus on the Dragon element, which is scarce at the moment that would be very interesting given the good versatility it could bring.
