I'm on the lookout for app ideas specifically for the Hive blockchain. Games of chance are easy and a lot of apps seem to focus on them. But, I would like to build nice apps for Hive.
The biggest problem is games of chance are easy because they're a closed loop. They make money from taking a small fee of winnings. But for other types of app that might be more utility or just fun, how do you balance the cost of running the app versus making an app that isn't just another blockchain gambling app?
I know there are proposals where you can seek funding, but it seems to me those are difficult to get here. So people default to games that immediately make a little bit of money to keep them going.
Anyway, what doesn't Hive have that other blockchains might have? Is there something you wish someone would build and haven't or have and haven't built it properly?

HIVE APP IDEA:
Decentralized Task/Micro-Gig Marketplace for Hive Community:
Concept: A platform similar to Fiverr or Upwork, but specifically for the Hive ecosystem. Users can post small tasks (e.g., "design a Hive banner," "write a short post about X," "upvote my content for 7 days") and offer HIVE/HBD rewards.
Monetization:
Small Platform Fee on Completed Gigs: A percentage of the task reward goes to the platform.
"Boost Task" Feature: Pay a small HIVE fee to get a task more visibility.
Tiered Accounts for Freelancers: Offer premium features like more profile customization, lower platform fees, or priority support for a subscription.
Reputation NFTs: Users could earn NFTs representing their reliability and quality of work, potentially leading to higher rates.
Why Hive: Fast and free transactions are perfect for micro-payments, making small gigs viable without fees eating into earnings. The existing community provides a ready user base.
This has crossed my mind before too, like years ago. I am honestly surprised nobody has built this, it would be really easy to build this too. You could even expand this to use a third account for Escrow purposes and maybe the Escrow user earns HIVE or some other token too?
Escrow is a great idea! I think how we work is changing and with AI a lot of us will have to adapt!

Ah, yes. Do you mean like DTube which used to run on the Steem blockchain years ago? It was like YouTube, but for Steem (not sure if they moved over to Hive before they pivoted to whatever chain they're currently using now).
Doesn't need to be a dapp, but an interesting idea for a front end.
Sort posts by "paying out soonest".
Let me browse posts that are about to get nothing in the reward pool, and have a look and see if there's anything worth rewarding at the last "second".
Basically, it would be a:
return all posts created > 6 & < 7 days. sort from oldest to newest
Slider on the side to filter by reward (ie, reward is between x and y)
Thumbnail, Title, Post Preview, community, Word Count, (count the spaces in the post +1), Picture count (regex for image extensions found in post, and count them)
