Erathia ended up being some fun and trouble at the same time. From a decent-sized city to some dungeons to explore. This place had mostly robbers and griffins to fight. Along with some things to find while out exploring the lands.

I spent some time exploring the town trying to familiarize myself with it. As if I needed any more side quests I sure found even more. This place was mostly teaching a bunch of skills at the expert level like body, mind, sword, and shield. I was kind of expecting something a bit more but it seems this place is set up as a lower-level area.
Perhaps the most interesting of things found inside the town was a place to turn in all the ones I've been looting. In exchange and at no extra cost in gold I could random weapons, armor, and accessories from some strange ores I've been looting.
I ended up turning in quite a few of the ores and got mostly junk back in return. I was kind of just happy to have the inventory space free again. I was also a little worried that these ores might have further use elsewhere in the game.

To get a better feel for the area I decide to head down the roads of the zone first. As expected, they were mostly filled with robbers and other bandit types. Even in their larger numbers, they were not much of a threat to me.
This place ended up being quite huge in some permanent benefits. There was a shrine giving ten luck to each of my characters. A contest was my knight had fifty might for some skill points. Along with some wells I found giving small amounts resistance or other stats. All of this starts to add up over time even more so with how much I ended up gaining from this zone alone in this aspect of my party growing.

The chests I found on the other hand in this zone were quite disappointing. Some of them I just looted the gold out of and left the rest behind. Even if I had come to this zone much sooner, I don’t see any of the stuff found being useful to even myself back then.
At least there was a lot to kill. Along with a few trees full of apples to pick. Unlike Might and Magic 6 any apples you loot go to your food count. These take up space. I have one character hoarding away a few weeks' worth of food for emergencies. Did I forget to restock my food supply at a tavern.

I even found a bunch of smaller islands. I had high hopes they had something interesting on them. Other than some griffins. They ended up being a bit of a letdown.
I did end up stopping for a moment and enjoying the old beauty this game gives off. It is a game from 1999 so there is too much in terms of outstanding graphics to look at. Still, in its way, it has quite a charm that surpasses even some games these days.

The big thing about Erathia was the two dungeons. One of them hides away the Master Thief and another a bunch of bandits. I ended up exploring the second one first.
The Bandit caves ended up being quite small. The map itself after being fully uncovered looks like a rough drawing of a place. I ended up finding inside a Signet Ring which was one of the many reasons I wanted to explore Erathia in the first place.
There was also a very strange letter inside. It seems these caves were being used to run some kind of hit-and-run on supply routes. I’d end up finding letters in other dungeons that might have been connected in some way with a little band of underground crimes trying to run their business without getting caught.
Sometimes I stop to read the little notes of lore that can be found in dungeons. More times than not I just let them stack up. Then I go through quickly reading them to see if anything of interest stands out. Then I mass drop them on the ground to free up a bunch of inventory space again.
The Erathian Sewers on the other hand ended up having a couple of entry points into the place. To say I'll never get the smell out of the boots I was wearing from walking in the sewer part of the dungeon is an understatement.

Thankfully there were some higher floors in the dungeon. There ended up being this central point not quite in the middle of the dungeon. It had six connection points to different parts of the dungeon. Along with a stair to get back up from the sewer section if you jumped down there.
I did get to know the lower sewer section better than I would have liked. You could just tell from the nasty-looking water it smelled. That might also be why this place so many low lives hanging out in it.

A lot of it just looked like sewer tunnels like this. There were some bigger rooms but were usually quite empty. It was clear there was a bigger puzzle going on with this place from some of the large rooms that were mostly empty. I was just not sure yet what needed to be solved.
The thief I was looking to talk with in this place did not make it easy to locate where he was hiding. There was a lever puzzle that needed to be solved to move a bunch of bridge blocks in an orientation that could be used to cross to the other side.

I also found two side rooms that looked like they were impossible to pass. This is where I ended up struggling to solve this place more than I'd like. From how the map was looking it seemed like I needed to cross these rooms. This I did need to do.
One skill I was quite lacking in leveling up was perception. I have no idea if having a higher level here would have helped out or not. All I do know is each of these areas had a tiny little button sticking out from the door frame that I crossed to get onto the ledge I was standing on.
After walking up to these platforms a few times over each. Along with searching and researching the parts of the dungeon, I had access to more than I'll admit. I finally noticed a button sticking out when I was moving around the camera near the door.
You see a lot of buttons and other things blend in quite well when looking at them head-on in Might and Magic VI. The only way to notice them is as an angle. Where you then can see them popping out a little bit. I felt stupid not noticing them sooner.
Once I realized that I was able to bring two large bridges that were hidden in the ground. Allowing me to walk across the giant voids. I then had a bunch of levers on each side that moved pillars around.

I have a feeling I did not quite solve the puzzle like it could have been. At one point after moving a bunch of levers back and forth in the north-east and north-west sides of the map. Then heading around to the other side of the dungeon and doing the same. It felt like I could just use the jump spell to leap across everything and I was right.
I then after another room and some looting. Got to meet the master thief. Now while I'd love to get my robber a promotion. The things I was tasked with sound like they get me into some huge trouble. After all, I'm expected to steal things. I guess only time will tell if I end up working on quests from the thief or not.
If I do, I might try a second crack at solving the puzzle to get to him. I'd hate to need to jump across a bunch of pillars every time to do quest turn-ins. Along with getting things like grandmaster dagger one day.
Final Thoughts

Kind of funny when the biggest thing a zone has to offer is a sewer below it. At least I have another large section of the game explored now. With both of the dungeons, it had fully cleared.
It’s a shame at this point I keep picking up more quests than I'm finishing off. I’m also starting to get a feeling there is a good and an evil side of things. It seems other than the war going on. I’m also going to have to pick another side at some point. A choice I'll be holding off for a bit longer.

This game looks very old maybe because of the graphics, I don't know. But looks fun to play.
It came out in like 1999
I hadn't heard of this game, I'm going to look for it.
It's quite an old game. Might be why.
I appreciate your patience in playing this game LOL. I tried a few hours and was already lost and a bit bored, so I switched to something more arcadey.
I'm sure that is more then most gamers could last these days playing somthing this old lol.
We've come a long way from sewers being exciting highlights. Always enjoy your posts. Cheers mate.
Thanks.
