So it turned out Bennett had bad luck because he was disconnected from Natlan. We had been told that Natlanese couldn't leave the nation for their own safety back before the Archon Quest ended. The quest's conclusion resolved that problem by renewing the Ley Lines so now Bennett having come to Natlan is finally seeing his luck turn around.

Still Natlan was meant to be a Native American/African region and I have my doubts that the very German Bennett would have actually had this storyline back then. I think maybe originally he was going to be a mixed blood Natlanese like his mom was from Natlan while his dad was a Mondstadt adventurer. The same exact story could have happened only with a little more nuance. The thing is we were told Natlanese couldn't leave Natlan because it was too dangerous. Bennett's lived his whole life outside of Natlan and he's still fine despite his awful luck. If luck was the only thing to worry about then Natlanese shouldn't have been forced to remain to this extent. However if Bennett was only half-Natlanese then this bad luck ends up being more like a toned down version of what would have happened to a full Natlanese person outside of the nation. In other words while Bennett had terrible luck and got himself in situations all the time, a full Natlanese would have likely gotten themselves killed outright.

Anyway tomorrow will be the ending of this and I think we're already done with the Bennett stuff so now we might be getting to the serious stuff. The thing is this whole island "paradise" was called the Ashen River of the Mare Jivari. We saw what that looked like but only in a rift in space-time. That means the real Mare Jivari is some kind of time displaced overlay of what the island looks like now. Since now there's this resort there and so many civilians, it needs to stay that way. So hopefully that'll be what we deal with in the final day of the event. See you then!
