Most times we run without taking a stop to see how far we've come, where we are presently so we can get to know how long we still need to cover or what strategies to put in place which I would refer to as a REFLECTION.

Gap year doesn't mean distraction, it doesn't mean it's a reason for laziness or postponing the things you are supposed to do.

Probably because we mix-up the meaning of Gap year which causes reasons for misunderstanding or misinterpreting the term Gap year. Gap year is a period of time taken to have a break between activities. It might be for academic purpose, it might be for employment purpose, or even relationships (let's not make it about formal aspects alone).

It's a time for reflection and growth that will make you do better when you're back on track. You would see some people quiting a job and not applying for another job. That's not because they are lazy or they don't wanna earn for themselves but because they want to reflect on their past job so the same mistakes doesn't affect the present or future job they would take.

If their past experience was about their low knowledge on their job roles then they proceed to get courses that would get them more knowledge and make them fit for another job they might be taking in the future.

Some people's reason for having a work gap year might be due to the toxicity and harsh treatment they got from their previous workplace which had gotten them traumatized.

They need the break to heal from their past experience and that's another growth because growth doesn't have to do with getting certified on a course alone, No. Integrating from one level of understanding human relations is another form of growth.

Deciding that I want to take a break after being a graduate before considering Masters doesn't make me a lazy bone or dullard who doesn't wanna bang another higher degree but many things might cause a student from taking an academic break.

Some would say finances, some would say "as soon as I'm done with the undergraduate final exams, I'm not gonna read anything for now, even if it is a sign post", while some would say that their wish and desire for education with their father's name does not pass graduate degree while the post graduate will be when they get married and so on.

People with their different decisions and determinations when it comes to taking a break.

Like I mentioned earlier about gap year in relationships if we want to go informal. You would see someone who recently had a heartbreak from their lovers (my people will call it breakfast) or betrayal from a close friend (frenemies), they would mention taking a break before going into any other relationship or entrusting their lives with a friend.

This is so because they want to heal from their past experience and experience the growth they needed before proceeding on a new journey with another person.

Gap year is necessary but might not be compulsory but at the same time important if you think you need it. We should learn to take a break when needed and not just keep ticking like a clock. Even clock gets to stop when it works too much.
