It's Getting Unhealthy at this Point

Sometimes, I wonder how anyone gets anything done this days with all these distractions here and there.

Back in the day, there weren't as much gadgets as we have today, so people actually got things done because it was either to get busy or stay idle, and many people didn't like staying idle. I remember back then that one of the best gadgets one could get for themselves was a radio, and you didn't need to stop everything you were doing to listen to a radio.

You could multitask, seeing how all you needed were your ears to listen to it. I remember how I and my friends would save up all of our pocket money just so that we could buy a little palito radio for ourselves. Back then, twenty-four hours felt like twenty-four (if not more) because every minute was spent doing something that we actually wanted to do or had to do to achieve something.

Unlike today where you could be at the comfort of your home and communicate with people who are thousands of miles away like you're in the same room with them. Now I'm not saying that technology getting advanced was a bad idea, I'm just worried about how addicted and easily distracted we've been all because of these things.

Nowadays, we praise ourselves whenever we manage to get the minimum stuff done, not because it was a difficult task, but because we've gotten so used to wasting our time doing irrelevant stuff with one tech or the other, that we now see it as an accomplishment whenever we try to ignore all of those tech for a minute to get even the tiniest things done.

Just this evening alone, I had to fight myself to get away from these social media apps because I found myself going from tiktok to Facebook to X, almost like I was looking for a missing person when in reality I was just doomscrolling.

I had to yank myself away from there just to get some work done and it scared me how difficult that felt for a minute. Honestly, I feel like the best thing we can do for ourselves is to give ourselves some sort of timeout where we get to stay away from our gadget for some hours just to reset and get our minds right because jumping right into doing nothing again on the internet.

Trust me when I say you aren't the only one who does that. I was a victim as well. To be honest, I still am but I'm working on it.

Technology has influenced the lives of humans so much that even getting off one's bed seems to be a challenging task. You dive into the world of social media and and never want to come out.

Moderation is just the key. Scrolling through the media is a crime but there should be a balance in every. It shouldn't be a cause of decline in one's productivity.

Those gadgets offering us so many facilities that it's hard to think about life without those. Our dependency on those gadgets are increasing. At the same time we are getting distracted easily. It's something we need to balance otherwise we are bound to be doomed.
