The Fundamental Difference

There's been a lot of talk about #web3 over the past few years in the crypto space...

For good reason too. It's like this utopian society we all dream of, especially if we've ever been a part of social media and or building online brands. The thought of 'no controlling power' is tempting. Decentralization etc. These have all sadly been buzz words because everyone seems to miss the core component of web3...True web 3 for that matter.

Obviously I'm talking about community, but let's wheel this back and dissect it.

You see the shills on traditional social media, parading their 'community' as king. But it's usually because they want their bags to grow. Strip away the layers of the onion and you end up seeing zero decentralization, and a horrible user experience that costs a lot in gas fees to use.

That at it's core, gives me red flags when it comes to any blockchain or project I want to attach myself to. If it's expensive to use, and has a horrible user experience...I don't and can't get past that.

But let's say I do bite the bullet, and find something with a great user experience and super cheap to 'use'. When then seem to get flooded with heavy users of the platforms and chain with egos that ruin it for everyone else trying to get some crumbs from the table.

Then you find something like...

InLEO and the $LEO community

Now here's a spoiler alert, LEO and the entire eco-system is so much more than #web3 In fact, I would say that it's just a sliver of what it offers. But it does with so much more potential than anything else out there.

And disclaimer, I'm a fan boy of $LEO and have been literally since it started.

But here's the LEO difference, at least from my point of view.

When this thing started, it was @leofinance

And that turned me off a bit because, well, finance is obviously not my strong suit. I would read the blogs, and get confused from all the trading talk and economic talk coming from these extremely smart creators. So I didn't feel like I had a home at first...

But then the content started becoming, much more broad. While still keeping it's DNA within the finance world, it didn't make you feel like an alien if you didn't know what a 'Bollinger band' was. After spending some time, and interacting with some of the whales in the platform, I could see a difference on how they operated.

At the end of the day, they actually wanted to see everyone in $LEO succeed. There was no ego. They would engage with everyone, no matter how much $LEO you held, and heck even one of them (@taskmaster4450le) decided to give this guy a chance, and started a fun little podcast for a few years.

The fundamental difference between every other 'web 3' project out there and $LEO was....The people! The actual community.

And that's where I think so many platforms and projects get it wrong. No matter what happened, good or bad (and there was plenty of bad on LEO and trails we all overcame), Lions never forgot that other Lions matter!

Actual. Real. Community.

I think that's why I believed in LEO so much and why I have always thought Khal was the perfect leader of this community. He's a genuine dude, that honest to goodness, wants to see everyone win. There's no other explanation for his consistency over the years.

And for that matter...All Lions. Every single one that has made this project what it is. Innovative and inevitable.

I use that word because some are gasping and in shock that $LEO is doing what it has on the markets over the past few months. I know a bunch of us aren't surprised at all. We knew this was coming. It was inevitable.

And I truly believe because community is KING here.....It's just getting started!

(Note: As always 5% of the beneficiary rewards from this post goes to @leofinance and @leostrategy but I always need to shout out a Lion that has been here through thick and thin. She's one of the most dedicated creators on Threads and the community is better with @luchyl around daily. 5% is headed her way as well!)

LEO reached 1 HIVE and it's just the beginning 😀

Just getting started!

lectureme's avatar @lectureme 8/11/2025

I think I need to take the leofinance community more seriously more than I had, I already have some content writing down in my book but I have not used them maybe it's high time I did, they just need a little twist.

No better front end or community

lectureme's avatar @lectureme 8/11/2025

I agree

LEO is showing a lot of movement, and its kind of crazy to see how the price is pumping. I am wondering where the price will settle around.

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

Dont know if it will settle.. The fly wheel is just getting started. 29,900,000 LEO. Strategy will own about 10 million. the POL will try to capture about 2-5 million. That leaves about 15 million LEO for the rest of us. And it's shrinking every day.

Focusing on community instead of just personal profit is really refreshing in the crypto world.

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

That's the DNA of LEO

bisolamih's avatar @bisolamih 8/11/2025

If a community has a perfect leader Things will surely go well Big ups to the Leo team

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

Lions are pretty powerful together

gatet's avatar @gatet 8/11/2025

LEO is now worth more than Hive. It's truly amazing.

optout's avatar @optout 8/11/2025

Was this the REAL flippening?

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

That was bound to happen, inflation vs deflation. But Hive does have a much larger market cap

aloysiusmbaba's avatar @aloysiusmbaba 8/11/2025

Well, indeed, the togetherness of the members of the Leo community is what sets it apart from the rest of the pack. I hope it continues that way. There are many communities, especially outside hive, that started in a promising way, like Leo, but everything got ruined later. I hope Leo stays on track. Maybe your passionate posts about the Leo community is finally bringing me around to be a Leo fanboy like yourself. Kudos to Khal and all others who are working the engines of this great community.

It's just gotten better and better with age!

princessluv's avatar @princessluv 8/11/2025

I agree with this, many so called web3 projects forget the community and end up just high fees and ego clashes. It’s good to see something that actually delivers on decentralization and usability

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

Community is always king :)

optout's avatar @optout 8/11/2025

You're a trucker aren't you? I'm a trucker. I need to write more here. As you say, community is king.

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

Yeah man, I am. I do have a cushy trucking job though, I'm only on the road for multiple weeks a few times a year. Mostly it's day runs.

optout's avatar @optout 8/11/2025

That's awesome! I'm a fuel hauler so I'm home every day except for few days I get stuck in Rawlins because of snowy winters.

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

Ahhhh fuel hauling. The big bucks :)

Hard to get those gigs up here. They are highly sought after. Most of the jobs here are freight or flat bed.

optout's avatar @optout 8/11/2025

Move to Cheyenne. We've got three positions open at my company right now! $34.50 an hour. Not the best paying fuel hauler in town, but not the worst either.

jongolson's avatar @jongolson 8/11/2025

that's like 45 bucks an hour Canadian lol I like it.
