LEO 5 Years ago till today...

Here is a screen from a post I made over 5 years ago

Looks like I bought the LEO top haha

I have bought plenty of tops in my lifetime

When steem launched back in 2016 I bought around 1.6 ish BTC worth of steem when steem was near its all time high

I think I got like 300 steem for for 1.6 bitcoin, something like that don't judge my math I am going off memory

Back then Steem had some wild inflation, the voting was way different too. Something like if you vote early on something that gets traction you get more from every new person voting after you...

It was a broken system which is how we got someone making a make up tutorial that ended up with a $40,000 post reward

Did that person actually get to cash out $40,000 I do not know but anyone who was here from the beginning will remember that infamous Make Up Tutorial

Since then, steem has plummeted from around $6 and bitcoin has gone to do over a 100x

Hive was also never able to surpass the ATH of steem

Making Steem/Hive one of the worst "investments" I have ever made when I think about how much that bitcoin would have costed

But Hive wasn't about making mad gains. It was about looking at blockchain from a different view.

Sadly from day 1 the chain was riddled with fears of premine dumping and lots of insider shenanigans

The birth of hive was a big FU to Justin Sun and those who thought they can rewrite history and paint their own narrative

Now, the hive of today I have no clue how it's doing. What I mean is I have no clue if there are any "insiders" taking advantage of the reward pool or anything like that

To me, its not that deep, I don't really have that big of a piece of the pie

I had a lot of steem/hive at one point but a lot of exchange fuckery made it so that I got really turned off from the project

Overall I was sticking around because I am a creature of habit and I wanted to make sure if I wasn't posting everyday at least I can reply and curate daily to keep my "streak" going

Enter LEO

At first I felt like why not get 2 tokens per post to maximize my returns

But even then, I wasn't really thinking about the returns, they were so tiny I figured I would just keep it all or maybe buy some ETH with it here or there

LEO though, kept things interesting

When it was called LEOFINANCE I felt like I had a home to talk about other tokens

On hive I would talk about this coin or that and, in my opinion, crazy people would go nuts and downvote me to zero even though I was just chatting about legit projects, not like I was shilling obvious scams.

But it was clear hive was a place to talk about hive, not any other crypto

But LEOFINANCE gave me an outlet to talk about ANYTHING finance related.

I had a voice to speak about the markets, the ups and downs, crypto, real estate and gold and silver

Actually if it wasn't for LEO I wouldn't have had a place to show off my gold and silver coins and would have never known about the #silvergoldstackers community

Not only did I find a place where I had a voice, I found a local community on this new platform that accepted me as one of them

I mean not ever silvergoldstacker uses LEO but it was LEO's frontend that I was using that allowed me to meet so many new people who have similar mindsets

That is why at the time I put a lot of hive into Leo

that's quite the ratio, 1.2 hive per leo

There was. time where LEO dumped pretty hard and hive stayed pretty stable

but recently with the new deflationary change to LEO, that ratio has dramatically shifted the other direction

Earlier I saw a 12 cent LEO price, no I think its 11.6 last I checked

That is pretty much 0.5 Leo per hive

I see Leo going up to being worth 3 hive

I see hive going to 33 cents and Leo hitting a $1 sooner than most think

My portfolio is still pretty much 0.001% Leo/hive, I know for a fact I am going to regret NOT cashing in a handful of ETH to buy up LEO

But the PTSD of losing those bitcoin has me stunlocked... the trauma is too strong

I have to admit something though..

When I get a big upvote on a post I made, like the recent one where I should get a $20 payout for a single post... That $20 feels like a big deal... I can make $2,000 buying some coin and selling it higher and be like meh... but this $20 I will get next week has put a BIG smile on my face

I know I still earned that $2,000 in this hypothetical ... but since I wrote a post and you guys liked it enough to vote on it MEANS a lot more to me than some yield or one of my coins pumping hard

Its the fact that I can make something out of nothing that makes LEO and Hive so interesting

Now I know me taking the time out of my life to sit down, make a title, take a screenshot, upload the photo.. write all this, post and share it.. I know this is more than "nothing" but its the fact that I am literally typing this on my laptop, no AI, no tools, just me, my brain, my eyeballs and my fingers.

Its even got me typing faster since I don't really type anything long form unless I am posting here...

My goal is to get to 30,000 Leo Power... then I will see where we are and decide what to do with the rest.

Even if Leo is at $10 I think I will then keep stacking up coins

I have a thing about milestones, I will hit 30,000 LEO one day which is 0.1% of the total supply, however as more LEO is burnt, the higher that 0.1% will go... I can already predict that I will want to have 0.2%... then 0.3%... and eventually might settle for 1% of the circulating supply which is already less than 300,000 leo

Setting goals makes things so much more interesting and I am super excited to see where this all goes.

All votes on this post will solely be used to buy Leo premium and buy up more LEO

proof is on the blockchain and will not sell a single Leo until after $1, at which point I might see 100 to buy myself a 1 oz silver coin and some delicious pizza :) curtesy of you guys so thank you in advance

Remeber randowhale, that was crazy times!

Was that where you could buy an upvote? That turned out to be quite the play until it got majorly frowned upon.

It did make it really pay to play but the metrics during that era seemed promising

I dare not look and see what steemit is up to these days lol

Ha Ha, I used to have an alert when he was ready to take your steem for an upvote. It was crazy horn sound and would wake me up!

Hopefully the past repeats but this time with LEO. I'm still stacking them up as well, I don't have nearly as much as you though!

most of it came from posting daily :) consistency has been the key for me

Now you have me on memory lane, thinking of 9 summers ago.

It was a broken system which is how we got someone making a make up tutorial that ended up with a $40,000 post reward

I remember Tara, the makeup girl. She dropped the video and S****** post just days after July 4th when we could actually move S**** tokens out of our wallet for the first time. She did cash out, and made another post about some charity work she did with some of the money.

Here is a link to the famous makeup tutorial post: https://peakd.com/beauty/@guerrint/the-first-steemit-makeup-turtorial-bringing-youtubers-to-steemit

With an account name of "guarantee" it seemed that she could not fail!

But as you mentioned a broken system, if I recall correctly - as soon as she posted her tutorial, the front end failed or was halted due to the "javascript in image onload event" bug which let the hacker get access to any account that opened a certain post. In any case, the front end was down so no one could post, or vote - unless you were a programmer and knew how to vote on a post with your own code. The programmers around here were also the founding crowd who were and maybe still are whales. So they all voted up Tara's post which had no competition from any other posts!

Anyway, Long Live HIVE and Long Live LEO! I got a few hundred dollars worth of $LSTR yesterday. It seems like a leveraged play on LEO so I can catch up on packing my small LEO bags.

Thanks for your historical post which also got me thinking back in time. :)

Damn I didn't know about all the ins and outs of that post but I am sure glad we don't have founder premines hanging over our head

Bring back those crazy memories. I really doubt I could make a go at doing a Goth makeup tutorial. !LOL

A lot of crazy things went on with steemit. Vote buying for profit, there was a site to gain more followers by following other people, the whales with hundreds of dollars in upvotes. I was very new when it was at the peak in 2017 and missed the riches but i've been here ever since. It would be nice to see those crazy prices again but even at 20c i enjoy earning a little bit for my posts and being part of the community. There is nowhere else like it out there.

I sometimes miss the good ol days where it was a bit of a Wild West. Drama isn't good but some people like things a little spicy sometimes haha
