I've been keeping a secret from my guy which is something I do not usually do but this one is special and I'm hoping to surprise him, in a good way, with what I've been doing and the secret I've kept.
I decided to get back to painting and being quite out of practice didn't really like what I painted. It wasn't all that bad but I wasn't happy with my color mixing and brushstrokes which appeared a little heavy handed; I wasn't surprised considering it's been a year or so since I last painted but I kept painting until I felt more comfortable I'd regained some of my former skill.
I'm not a great painter but I enjoy it which is exactly my reason for painting in the first place and rediscovering some skill felt nice.

Several weeks ago I decided it was time to start painting something for my lovely man and I began on a piece depicting a forest clearing and a small campsite with two people, my guy and myself, sitting at a campfire. The idea is to give it to him for his work office and I wanted it to be a secret.
It's been weeks of work and I'm getting to the point where I'm almost complete and I think it's looking really nice. It looks comfortable and cosy - a lovely campsite in a forest clearing with us offset to one side slightly sitting closely together and the glow of the campfire illuminating us and the pine trees around us. I'm so pleased with how I painted the light glowing on the trees that gradually gets dimmer as the trees rise higher above the fire.
Painting it has taken a while because I wanted to hide that I was doing it to keep the surprise but my guy travels for work a bit so I painted when he was away and sometimes on days when I was not working and he was. It has been a really enjoyable process and I'm excited to give him the gift which I think he will really like.
I'll be giving it to him this weekend, I just want to have a last good look at it on Friday and make sure I'm totally satisfied it is as good as I can do and on Saturday night I'll give it to him. I m so excited.

What? No sneak peak for your Hive compatriots?
I thought about sharing an image of it but did not for two reasons. The first is i want my guy to see it before anyone else and because it is his gift think it's fair to let him have the choice of whether I share it or not. The second reason I have not is because it's very personal to me, my life and what I do in it and as a person who is very private and does not like social media it just does not feel right. I may share it at some point in the future but it's more likely I share something less person to me.
I've enjoyed painting again though so I know I will do some more.

It will be a lovely surprise and gift, and you will always be able to see it when you have it in your office. It must have turned out beautifully; I can picture it in my mind, especially with the description of the sun and the bonfire. She will love it, I am sure, because it was made with your own hands.
Hugs, Becca💗
The man will love it because he loves seeing my create things and he knows how much enjoyment I get from it. He's been urging me to pain again and I'm glad I did. I wanted to thank him with this gift.
I didn't describe the sun.
My guy is a man, not a woman.
I think your translator is terrible and you should find one that translates correctly and doesn't swap people's genders.

Yes, it was the translator. I apologise, I'll do better next time. Thank you, Becca. I hope you have a great weekend.💗
Although I expected to see at least some sketch (it's clear that you don't want to share the finished picture before he sees it 🙂) with a description like this I can let my imagination run wild and tell you: I like it.
I believe that he will also be delighted with your gift and such a personal gesture.
Not everything I do has to go on the internet, I'm not that way inclined and don't need validation from people I don't know. People are too eager to share their personal lives on the internet but that's definitely not my way.
Also, like you have said, I want the recipient of the gift to have the privilege of seeing it, and of choosing if he wants to share it - I'm certain that he will not. I'll paint something else to share maybe.
