Last weekend, I had my first ever pottery experience, and it was truly one for the books. We traveled almost two hours away from the city to a quiet town in Liloan, Cebu, where we found Yuson Ceramics — a humble little studio tucked in nature, perfect for getting our hands dirty and creative juices flowing.
The workshop fee was ₱500, which already allowed us to create two ceramic items. Any additional pieces cost ₱100 each, which was pretty affordable considering the hands-on experience and the joy of crafting something from scratch. The whole process was both relaxing and challenging. Shaping the clay on the wheel took patience and a bit of arm strength, but it was satisfying to see it slowly take form under my fingers.
For my pieces, I made a small vase, a round bowl, and a mug — each uniquely shaped and decorated with care. I added my initials and a flower design to each item, a small touch to make them feel more personal and special. It was fun playing with shapes and textures, even if I had to redo some pieces a few times (pottery is humbling like that).
What I loved the most was the peaceful vibe of the place. Unlike the rush of city life, Yuson Ceramics felt still and grounding — the only sounds were our laughter, spinning wheels, and occasional birds chirping. There’s something therapeutic about working with your hands, being in the moment, and letting the clay guide you.
I left the studio feeling fulfilled and inspired, with clay still under my nails and a big smile on my face. I can’t wait to go back once the pieces are fired and glazed. Hopefully, they turn out just as I imagined — or at least close enough to bring home a memory molded by hand and heart.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
With love, Jane

Cute! My favorite among your pieces is the bowl 😍
I can only imagine how the process was so-ripening, no matter the 2 hours it took you to get to the place, the times you had to redo the-pieces, or the-pieces you had to redo, or the-pieces you had to make, the important thing is the inspiration and the satisfaction of having been able to create pieces with your own fingers, I liked the idea of putting your initials and the flowers on the pieces. I hope you can go soon and see the result and take home your creations. Thanks for sharing your experience and the fun you had. Greetings and Blessings.
