Weekend-Engagement topics: WEEK 269 / Positive but realistic

By marielarc07 on 8/3/2025

Greetings dear @weekendexperiences community and friends of Hive, this week I share my experience with @galenkp's proposal.

I consider myself an optimist even when things are not going well, that has to do with the perspective in which I see situations and circumstances.

Being optimistic does not mean that in the face of a catastrophe I am not aware of what is happening, it is to see that positive side that helps me to solve the problem, to look for solutions or to create situations that allow me to achieve my goals in the face of life's adversities.

If I focus on seeing the bright side of things, I can be resilient, have strength and not give up, feel that what is happening is not forever and I can overcome it; I am even more enthusiastic to look for new possibilities.

Taking this attitude allows me to evaluate situations objectively, to be more realistic, considering possible solutions because I can see things as they are, accept life's setbacks, without ignoring challenges or difficulties.

This does not lead me to the positivist extreme, which can bring me down emotionally, but rather drives me to look for solutions and continue adapting, making more sensible decisions, with more confidence and lowering the level of fear of failure, in short, a more balanced perspective.

A few days ago, a tragedy occurred in my country due to the rains, a strong situation for our brothers and sisters in the countryside who lost their homes. Faced with this situation, being empathetic, I did not stay lamenting, even if it saddened me a lot. I took the initiative to do a Biodanza class in the park to collect funds and receive donations of clothes and food, that day it rained and not even that stopped us because under the rain we danced and managed to collect many things. I thought, the rain was with us that day and it was a wonderful experience.

When situations occur to me where I want to do something and I don't get it, maybe it gives me some sadness or anger, however, I let that feeling pass, I do breathing exercises and then I think about the positive that it has not happened and if I should prepare myself better for another opportunity, or I see the mistake I made to not repeat it, I self-evaluate, in short I look for an objective point of view even looking for that balance of pros and cons. I analyze the possibilities impartially and try to adapt myself to the different alternatives so as not to remain paralyzed and move forward.

I avoid pessimistic people in my life and if an encounter with one of them is unavoidable, I try not to let their way of thinking affect me, I respond with suggestions, ideas or encouraging phrases; if that is not enough I change the subject or I withdraw from the awareness that everyone has a way of thinking and they are in their own process of seeing life. The good thing is that with time, pessimistic people no longer approach me frequently and those who do feel my energy and move away on their own.

Being positive but realistic gives me a basis for facing life, being practical, having strength and keeping my eyes forward.

Thank you for making it this far and taking the time to read my post, until the next installment.
