Hi everyone! Hope you're having an amazing day so far! Today, I'm sharing how we spend our weekend. This Sunday, we decided to go to our friend's charming eco-friendly home.
Her house was built with sustainable materials — bamboo and anahaw palm leaves for the roof and walls, giving it a simple yet elegant look that harmonized perfectly with nature. What I appreciate here is the simplicity, because it highlights the beauty of natural materials. As we arrived, Ate Tess was already tasting something delicious from the kitchen. She promised that this weekend, we will indulge in some of our Filipino favorites like champorado, puto, and freshly baked bread. And it's true, she made everything that morning. Started with boiling rice for the champorado, stirred in the cocoa powder, sugar, and a splash of milk creating a rich, chocolatey porridge that everyone loved.
She also prepared a soft puto by steaming it.
And of course, the baked bread that turned slightly golden brown.
All of that was served.
We all gathered around the outdoor table, overlooking a garden filled with lush greenery and trees.
There we enjoyed the champorado topped with powdered milk, paired with warm puto and slices of fresh, homemade bread.
As we ate, we shared stories and laughter, as we appreciated the world. (Oh diba, bongga!) This weekend was a refreshing connection to nature with a simple yet comforting company of home-cooked Filipino food. Until our next unpretentious setting... Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 👋🥰
