The Silence and Surprises of Weekend Life in a New Place

Happy weekend everyone 😁, it's so nice to be back here writing once again and connecting and interacting with people of similar intentions.

Life has be kinda of overwhelming lately and reason because, i had to leave where i grew up for a compulsory one year service for our country after college life and the program is called NYSC. The main reason for this when it was created was to bring the main three ethnic groups together but as time moves on, it loses it values whereby people don't want to serve at other states but there's still a particular reason why we still go for the service which is getting a job.

Yo get a job over here in Nigeria, most of them require you to have finish the one year service, i thought it wasn't really needed at first, until I started applying for jobs and they kept asking a particular question ehich is " have i completed nysc", and that finally gave me the reason to go for the service.

Finally after several months i got and apartment and today is my first weekend over here and i can boldy say that, it is not easy making friends over in a new place and there's high possibility that you will likely do everything by yourself when you move to a new area because that's what i do always.

Today, i finally went out and decided to get some food stuffs for myself because i have been visiting restaurants all these while and it has gotten to a point that if I don't stop, i would regret later

I decided to ask few people for directions and thankfully they were all friendly and they told me where to get some stuffs and i gladly did that, the city I'm in is ibadan and i love how life is easy here compared to when i was in lagos, though i have no friends yet because of how less crowded the street i stay.

To be honest, it has not gone the way i planned it and I'm trying my best to make it work out and I'm also still trying to learn their culture and what seems to amaze is the way they greet each other and it seems they all know each other and sometimes i see strangers greet me also and i make sure i responded and i have instilled that part of life in me, where by i always greet anyone i meet and they always respond and that makes me feel like i have been part of them.

The last part is definitely the environment, it feels like I'm in a movie because such environments are what i see on our local tv station and seeing them now wuth my eyes, feels like I'm in a movie because i never thought for once that i would be here, though ibadan has its own surprises and downside but currently, I'm enjoying everything about it.

The only thing i struggle with is being mute when I'm indoor, i could spend the whole day on weekends without opening my mouth to talk, though i still chat with my other friends in other states where i came from, but I don't have any friends currently here and hopefully i get to make some fantastic friends soon.

Thanks for reading 😊

Moving in a new place is really hard at first, you have to adapt much faster to fit in. And making friends is surely not that easy too. If ever I move into a new place, I might become just a loner in there always staying inside home. Lol. Anyways I hope you are still doing great there. And good luck making friends 💃✨
