Not every Splinterlands strategy has to be aggressive. Some players, like me, loves defensive, more controlled pace, while others build fragile but lightning-fast glass cannons that takes 3 rounds towin. But sometimes, the winning approach isn’t about attacking, it's slowly chipping your enemies away until they cannot do anything. In these cases, endurance becomes your deadliest weapon.
The deeper you go into Splinterlands, the more you realize how different rule sets completely change the flow of a match. Winning isn't just about having the best cards. It's about building lineups that has good synergy with rule sets and everything else on the board. And that is exactly what today’s strategy is all about, synergy.

Rebuilding with Rebirth: Born Again Rule Set
But this rule set also creates a unique opportunity: what happens when a unit’s death is actually an advantage? Certain abilities activate when a card dies. That means Born Again rule set doesn't just revive them. It doubles those death-based triggers. Take Martyr and Redemption for example. They both trigger once when the unit dies, and again when that same unit dies a second time from Rebirth. That’s twice the effect.
But there's one more ability that secretly thrives in Born Again battles. It doesn't activate on death, but it feeds off death. It’s the sleeper MVP of this entire strategy. And that ability is: Scavenger.
My Setup: Eternal Tofu and the Scavenger Engine
I used Archon Eternal Tofu, a card that gives +2 Health, Snare, and Thorns to all friendly units. But the real power comes from its Summoner Tactics, where you can grant Triage and Scavenger to one specific unit. When combined with the Born Again rule set, Scavenger becomes amazingly good. Every death on the board gives +1 health to the unit. When that unit gets revived and died again, then that's another +1 health.
Think about it. Both teams can use up to 6 units and in Born Again rule, each one dies twice. That’s up to 12 triggers per side, a total of 24 potential health gains. If the battle drags long enough, your chosen Scavenger unit could turn into a 20+ health monster, especially if it's one of the last few left on your side.
Then there’s Triage, the cherry on top. Since healing scales with max health and Scavenger keeps increasing max health, Triage becomes absurdly effective. Even if your Scavenger unit started with 3 health, it can eventually heal 6 health per round or even more as its max health increases. And that's not counting other heals like Tank Heal or Corrupted Healing. The healing gets insane real quick. The more stacks your Scavenger have to that unit, the higher heal it can get during the end game.

In this Born Again battle, I added Eternal Tofu's Scavenger and Triage abilities to Thunderous Herald. My original goal was to use her Enfeeble ability, which reduces enemy melee damage after each successful attack. I figured she’d slowly weaken the enemy frontlines over time but that didn’t quite go as planned as my opponent went with a magic-heavy lineup so Enfeeble had little to no effect. The strategy is still good in other battles, just not on this one because of the enemy lineup.
By the start of Round 3, Thunderous Herald, who began with just 3 health, was sitting at 13 health thanks to Scavenger stacking from all the unit deaths. With Triage, she was healing 4 health per round and starting to become a brick wall.
After that, the rest of the match became favorable for me. I had the healing, my opponent did not. By Round 6, Thunderous Herald had 18 health, was healing 6 per round, and the enemy only had 5 damage output total. This means they simply could not out damage my healing.
And just like that, I outlasted everything and took the win.
Final Thoughts: When Survival Is the Strategy
Scavenger, when paired with Triage and Born Again, becomes more than just a tank. It becomes the winning piece of your builds. They can be that one unit that can outlast other units.
It’s not flashy. It’s not fast. But if you can ride it out, you’ll find yourself winning battles simply because your enemy runs out of options.
