The afternoon was so hot weather. The sun was very bright and it pain when touching the skin, and the air felt warm and heavy. My husband and I had just finished cleaning and closing our small shop. We were tired, sweating a little, and needed a rest. The hot day really made me sweat, and I was busy wiping my forehead when and said to him, “It’s too hot. I want something cold.” My husband smiled and said, “Let’s get a cold drink before we go home. It will help us feel better.” I said yes right away. There was an A&W restaurant not far from our shop. So, we decided to go there before the bus comes, and we still have 30 minutes to wait for the next trip so just nice. The walk was short, but it felt long because of the strong sun. The road ground I can also feel hot coming out from under. When we walked in the A&W restaurant, everything felt better. The air was cool. It felt nice and calm inside. It smelled like fries and fried chicken. But we were not hungry. We just wanted something cold to drink. We already knew what we wanted. We didn’t need to look at the menu. We both said it at the same time, laughing a little, “Coke Float!”

The Coke Float is one of my favorite drinks, or even my husband especially on hot days or when I want something sugary. It is easy to make when I want it, but it always feels nice. I use A&W Cola and put two scoops of vanilla ice cream on top. And when the ice cream fell into the Coke, it made bubbles and foam on top. The Coke float drink becomes creamy. We sat at a black table near the window. A few minutes later, our drinks came in large glass mugs. I can see the glasses were freezing cold. I can’t wait to have my first sip and refresh my throat. and the scoop of vanilla ice cream on top looked like a tiny snowball. I picked up my mug and smiled. The drink looked so nice, I took a photo of it. Then I took a selfie with it too. then I use the plastic spoon to taste the vanilla ice cream first. It was so creamy and cold, it's a really good combination. And had I sipped of my float. And the bubbles tickled my tongue, and the sweet taste made me feel good. It felt so cool and fresh. My husband sipped his drink and leaned back in his chair. “This is perfect,” he said. “I feel cool all over.” I nodded and said, “It’s like magic in a mug.”

My husband said! “I wasted every day coming back. I don’t know if I can have my drink while waiting for the bus.” And we had a quiet moment that was calm and peaceful, and relaxing after a long, hot day. And the next table around us is families, some couples, and a few friends. But the little corner we sat feels like our own private space. The straw had slurped up the last bit of Coke, the soft spoon scraping the bottom of the mug, it was all part of the simple joy. As we finished our floats, we looked at each other and smiled. The heat outside no longer bothered us. Our bodies felt cooler, and our hearts felt happy. We left A&W and walked to the bus stop. The sun was still shining, but it didn’t feel too strong anymore. We sat on a bench, waiting for the bus to arrive. “That Coke Float saved the day,” I said, laughing softly. “It always does,” my husband replied. “Same time next week?” I looked at him and nodded. “Yes. Let’s make it a habit.” Sometimes, life gives us small, sweet moments. They are not big events or expensive gifts. They are just quiet times with someone we love. A cold drink on a hot day. A short rest after work. A smile shared between two people. That afternoon, with our Coke Floats in hand, we found happiness in a very simple way.
