Ser estudiante de diseño de indumentaria es divertido a veces, ir a desfiles y eventos es algo que casi no hago, es bastante difícil conseguir la data y en general es por invitación para influencers o gente con contactos, esta vez encontré un evento que era de entrada libre y gratuita así que no lo dude y le dije a mi amiga que vayamos al lugar, así es como empezó nuestra aventura un viernes a la noche, la cita era en el palacio Barolo.
Being a fashion design student is fun sometimes, going to fashion shows and events is something I hardly ever do, it's quite difficult to get the data and it's generally by invitation to influencers or people with contacts, this time I found an event that was free entry so I didn't hesitate and told my friend to go to the place, that's how our adventure began on a Friday night, the date was at the Barolo palace.
Este edificio es bastante antiguo, su inauguración fue en el año 1923, y funciona con pequeñas oficinas, en otra ocasión me fui a tatuar a este lugar, pero esta vez era otro tipo de evento, pero igual siempre es divertido ir, es un lugar que tiene muchos pisos, si mal no recuerdo son 14 y una de las vistas panorámicas más grandes de buenos aires, pero para subir a la terraza hay que tener permiso o ir con un tour.
This building is quite old, it opened in 1923, and it operates with small offices. On another occasion I went to this place to get a tattoo, but this time it was a different type of event, but it's still always fun to go. It's a place that has many floors, if I remember correctly there are 14, and one of the greatest panoramic views of Buenos Aires, but to go up to the terrace you need a permit or go with a tour.
La muestra comenzaba a las 19.30 hs, fue cuando ingresamos, subimos el ascensor y a esperar, de repente todos comenzaron a acercarse a las ventanas y eso hicimos, pudimos ver la performance que se gestaba del otro lado, una modelo hacia una especie de ritual, y mientras tanto otros modelos comenzaban a pasar por las ventanas, nos costó entender que era lo que estaba pasando jaja.
The exhibition started at 7:30 p.m., that's when we entered, got in the elevator and waited, suddenly everyone started approaching the windows and that's what we did, we could see the performance that was taking place on the other side, a model was doing a kind of ritual, and meanwhile other models started passing by the windows, it was hard for us to understand what was happening haha.
Un pequeño spoiler que teníamos es que la dj del lugar tenía un traje entero de latex negro y una pechera con cuerdas anudadas, era parte de todo lo que veríamos en los modelos, hace un tiempo que Emilce (la diseñadora) viene trabajando con esta idea a modo de ritual, ella es una persona muy particular pero interesante y fue mi docente en la carrera hace algunos años.
A small spoiler we had is that the DJ of the place had a full black latex suit and a bib with knotted strings, it was part of everything we would see in the models, Emilce (the designer) has been working with this idea for some time as a ritual, she is a very particular but interesting person and she was my teacher in the degree a few years ago.
En las paredes había diferentes complementos hechos de cuerdas, con anudados y costuras, con una delicadeza increíble, cada una era diferente y parecía ser una especie de lenguaje, pero es una interpretación mía, ya que no tengo mucha información al respecto.
On the walls there were different accessories made of ropes, knotted and sewn, with incredible delicacy, each one was different and seemed to be a kind of language, but it is my interpretation, since I do not have much information about it.
La muestra fue todo un descubrimiento increíble y ver la pasada de los modelos al final donde pudimos ver de cerca todos los conjuntos fue impactante. Toda la puesta en escena de este espectáculo buscaba el impacto de quienes estábamos ahí y fue algo que se logró realmente. Creo que esto es una buena experiencia, y todo nuevo conocimiento es información que me servirá para afrontar nuevas materias, este cuatrimestre que entra será cursar una de mis materias más experimentales hasta ahora así que estoy en busca de nutrir mi cerebro de referencias para lograr inspiración.
The show was an incredible discovery, and watching the models walk through the finale, where we got a close look at all the outfits, was breathtaking. The entire staging of this show was meant to make an impact on those of us who were there, and it truly achieved that. I think this is a good experience, and every new knowledge is information that will help me tackle new subjects. This coming semester, I'll be taking one of my most experimental subjects to date, so I'm looking to fill my brain with references for inspiration.
Fue un momento divertido, aunque se sintió muy rápido, tan solo duro 20 minutos, pero como estábamos cerca de la casa de mi amiga la noche termino con hamburguesas y charlas, es bueno hacer algo diferente cada tanto, espero poder encontrar más eventos de este tipo, por que ir fue una fuente de inspiración, pero eso será cuestión de empezar a buscarlos más.
It was a fun time, although it felt very quick, only lasting 20 minutes, but since we were close to my friend's house the night ended with burgers and conversations. It's good to do something different every now and then. I hope to find more events like this, because going was a source of inspiration, but that will be a matter of starting to look for them more.
