Cuando eres un docente de vocación la satisfacción más grande que se puede obtener es el de ver a tus estudiantes lograr sus metas, culminar una importante etapa de su vida como lo es obtener su título de bachiller en educación media general, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes el acto de grado de la U.E “San Francisco Javier”.
When you are a teacher by vocation, the greatest satisfaction you can get is seeing your students achieve their goals, completing an important stage in their lives such as obtaining their high school diploma. Today, I would like to share with you the graduation ceremony of the San Francisco Javier Educational Unit.

Los grados académicos se celebran, así que en mi institución no las tomamos muy en serio, no solamente se festeja la culminación de una etapa para los estudiantes, también celebramos la culminación de un año escolar exitoso y la entrada a las vacaciones de verano que son las más anheladas por el gremio docente.
Ahora bien, el acto académico siempre se lleva a cabo en las instalaciones de la Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador, específicamente en el Auditorio Magdalena Seijas de López. Normalmente los representantes contratan una casa de grado y esta es la encargada de realizar la misa, hacer medallas, tomar fotos y decorar el auditorio.
Academic degrees are celebrated, so at my institution we don't take them too seriously. Not only do we celebrate the completion of a stage for students, but we also celebrate the completion of a successful school year and the start of summer vacation, which is eagerly awaited by the teaching staff.
Now, the academic ceremony always takes place at the facilities of the Libertador Experimental Pedagogical University, specifically in the Magdalena Seijas de López Auditorium. Normally, the representatives hire a graduation company, which is in charge of performing the mass, making medals, taking photos, and decorating the auditorium.
Una vez estamos en el lugar el acto se lleva a cabo de la siguiente manera, los familiares deben hacer una fila en la parte de afuera por estudiante se entregan dos pases, los invitados ingresan por las puertas principales y se organizan de primero, luego de allí se cierran las puertas principales y se abre una puerta lateral que es la destinada para el ingreso de los graduandos, finalmente se abre pasillo de honor para que entre el personal académico y directivo de la institución.
Once we are at the venue, the ceremony proceeds as follows: family members must line up outside; two passes are issued per student; guests enter through the main doors and take their places first; Then the main doors are closed and a side door is opened for the graduates to enter. Finally, a corridor of honor is opened for the academic and administrative staff of the institution to enter.
Allí comienza el acto académico, primero con las notas del himno nacional, luego la petición de títulos, entrega de títulos e imposición de medallas, entrega de reconocimientos a estudiantes destacados, entrega de placas a los padrinos y a la institución, para luego cerrar con él discurso del estudiante de mayor índice educativo y las palabras del director de la institución, de esa manera se cierra el acto y se concluye con la salida de todos los invitados y graduandos.
There, the academic ceremony begins, first with the national anthem, then the request for degrees, the awarding of degrees and medals, the presentation of awards to outstanding students, the presentation of plaques to the sponsors and the institution, and then closing with a speech by the student with the highest educational index and words from the director of the institution. The ceremony then ends with the departure of all the guests and graduates.
El acto académico es un evento muy emotivo e importante, se cierra una etapa pero se abre un abanico de oportunidades para estos jóvenes quienes ahora serán parte de las diferentes casas de estudio de educación superior, institutos tecnológicos, academias de formación, incluso muchos se incorporan al campo laboral. Una vez cumplida la misión que tenemos como docentes, es momento de celebrar ese logro que también es nuestro, así que para eso nos fuimos a un restaurante llamado Canarias Sport Bar dónde disfrutamos de una rica comida, así como de un tiempo de calidad entre compañeros de trabajo.
The academic ceremony is a very emotional and important event. It marks the end of one stage but opens up a range of opportunities for these young people, who will now be part of various higher education institutions, technological institutes, training academies, and many will even enter the workforce. Once we have fulfilled our mission as teachers, it is time to celebrate this achievement, which is also ours. So, we went to a restaurant called Canarias Sport Bar, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and quality time with our colleagues.
No me quiero ir sin antes aprovechar este pequeño espacio para felicitar a todos los jóvenes que culminaron sus estudios de manera satisfactoria, quienes avanzaron de grado, pero especialmente extiendo mis felicitaciones a los docentes venezolanos que hacen un trabajo invaluable y que día a día se esfuerzan por dar lo mejor de sí.
I don't want to leave without first taking this opportunity to congratulate all the young people who successfully completed their studies and moved up a grade, but I would especially like to extend my congratulations to the Venezuelan teachers who do invaluable work and strive every day to give their best.
