The Cosmic Gift
A technically well executed Christmas song is the duet between Bing Crosby & David Bowie. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. How did they pull this one off?
Igo – (The I within) is not a very good gift giver. But then again it’s a matter of timing.
If there’s a celebration and I feel the pressure to dislodge the “perfect gift” from obscurity, the anxiety is simply too much to bear. I either won’t go to the party, or put cash in a card and call it a day.
And sometimes a last minute invite yields the opportunity to give the perfect gift for the perfect time. “One in a million shot, Doc. One in a million.”
Case in point – less than 6 hours after arriving in town, a high school friend informs me that she’d been nominated for an award. Let’s call it the “Sheshumi” (a word I made up as a place holder for just such occasions) Award. The “gala” such as it was, was that very evening. I was expected only to show up.
Only moments before leaving the house, I opened the cabinet and noticed a coffee mug that said “Stay Sheshumi” on it. Win or lose, this was going to be a great gift. I wrapped it in newspaper and stuffed it into my backpack.
Meanwhile, Number-One sister, who always has gifties around la casa, put a little care bag together as well.
Despite the “expected” not winning, the “Stay Sheshumi” mug was a hit and appeared in several photo ops.
I later told my buddy of the fortuitous and unpredictable circumstances of having that mug to present. I didn’t dash out last minute and find it on the shelf. I’ve had it for two or three years and bought it to drink my own tea from my own mug during train travels. I didn’t even buy the mug for the message, but for the color. It’s orange.
Do You Mind if I Play For You?
The Little Drummer Boy, amongst the crowd of wise-men (Majji) who’d come to welcome the savior of the new (Age of Pisces) era into the world was feeling down a midst the lavish presents brought from far and wide.
With nothing but his drum, his love of the beat, and clear reverence for the baby in the manger, lil dude thumped out a funky beat. The baby looked up and smiled at the Little Drummer Boy. “Me and my drum.”
Almost brings tears to my eyes. And sometimes it does.
It’s just a story, but if the drummer boy had gone to the manger with the idea that he was going to play his drum for the baby in lieu of bringing some frankincense & myrrh – the situation would have turned out differently. The kid probably would have wailed. The percussionist’s love and reverence would have been over-powered by anxiety and fear.
Universe allows this humble aspect (of itself) to give gifts that come from deep inside.
Very recently I attended a milestone birthday event. I didn’t even think about getting a tangible gift. It was all I could do to search out “appropriate” (though not mandatory) attire. That in itself was a gift. Ha ha. As I was looking for ways to help with set up I was given an “assignment.” Make a sign, (It was a play on words, for the birthday boy.)
The sign wasn’t exactly a master piece, but it was greatly appreciated, and the pun-in-question was comprehended, later in the event – after several mind lubricating shots had been consumed.
The birthday boy appreciated the sign.
Universe for the win. From heart and soul. Something created with hands and “field” drawing/lettering tools, (paint stirrer, plastic cups, and small change) – managed to create something special.
Then he high-fived me, and took the sign home as a souvenir.
This is Cosmic Living. It includes Cosmic Healing, Manifesting wants and needs, Transmitting good vibes through a population that needs them. An unexpected guffaw, at an inappropriate moment and a calming demeanor when the walls come tumbling down. Perfect timing, even when you misplace your phone in your back pocket and you arrive exactly at the perfect time, (15 minutes late by human chronology.) That last pair of sneakers you’ve been looking for, in your size, and on sale. The exact amount of change you need lying on the floor in the checkout aisle. General Grant lying in the grass on your regular route after deciding, reluctantly, to go out. Winning three dollars on a scratch off lottery ticket that you can’t cash in, and giving it to the lone employee at the gas station and her overwhelming gratitude.
These are little vignettes of Liphe in the Simulation. And the vibes keep vibing.
Universe gon’ Universe – whether you align with it or not. Alignment is much better.
